A dark pondering gaze swept over the grass. The antlered head that supported it shook sadly. Despite the fact that the creature had antlers, she was not a stag, but a hind. However, a mix of reindeer and red deer, her antlers were seemingly smaller than that of a reindeer hind's, and, also like the red deer, her body was much smaller built than the reindeer's.
Her darker hooves carried the maginificent deer over the flat lands, nothing much to see. It was pretty much the same, quite different from her home land, yet a nice change in scenery. However, the hind longed for the colder weather of her home, though inside she knew she'd never see it again.
She lowered her head, nuzzling the grass. Her antlers hadn't fully grown yet, they were still growing since they had just sprouted over her head. Her antlers fell in the early winter, unusual for most deer, but the timing was in between red deer and reindeer. They grew earlier than the reindeers' did also. So now they were in velvet, almost fully arched over her head.
They were still quite beautiful however, they had balled points, and curved more than the red deer's, though there still were hints of the bloodline in them. She had more defined brow tines, like the red deer, where the reindeer's is farther up. Her bloodlines also showed in her coat, it wasn't as thick as the reindeer's, it was thinner, and sprinkled with red highlights.
The same dark gaze continued to roll over the plains, waiting for something of interest to happen. The grass didn't seem pleasant at a time like this, so the deer raised her head, continuing to look around.

"Get back here, Matt!" Anyone could have recognized the sternly young voice of Yuri, the Outrider Captain. He was chasing after Matt again, as he did quite often. The cause? Sometimes it was because he needed punishment, others it was disrespect, and sometimes still it was Matt's failure to attend some of the most important meetings in all of the Kosov Herd.
"No way, Cap'n! I'm not appologizing to that idiot Herla!" Matt had, once again, called Tala something that would risk his-and Yuri's- neck. Matt finally swerved around in the chase, heading straight towards his distant cousin. Yuri reared with surprise, even though this was a normal chasing tactic of his relative. "You are not to call me 'Yuri', you, an Outrider, will address me as Captain, you hear?" Matt, nodded, and quickly ran off to Tala.
ooc:Be back on in a few, got to go eat dinner, that's why my reply is so bad...

Chiyo heard bits and pieces of the conversation, but didn't really care. The deer raised her antlered head, looking over into the distance where she could see them, but, paying them no mind, she continued to graze.
It was her antlers that bugged her though. As a fawn, coming into her first head, the other fawns would tease her, because she wasn't 'normal' like all the other soon-to-be hinds. She hated her antlers at times, though she loved them too. They were one of the last traces of her bloodlines, so she cherrished them. Though she was often mistook as a stag, and well, the stags who had weren't alive to call her that again. A result of her brash temper, which only showed itself at times.
So the hind returned to grazing, thinking only to herself of the little fawn's torments. How she'd always get in trouble for boxing at them, though since that time she had learned to control her temper better. So that to her was a blessing.

Yuri noticed the mischeiviou smile that had appeared on Matt's face as he trotted away. The way he smiled, it made Yuri's blood both run cold and boil to an explosive point. "You!" The Captain couldn't keep himself from charging full force at Matt, for even though Anlach was two seasons away, already the stags were growing restless.
"GAH!" Matt cried as his Captain leaped clear over him. "What's the big deal, Yuri? I said I go appologize."
"You said that, but you did not mean it by Herne! He should strike a lyer like you down right here and now!" Matt was almost terrified of the look in Yuri's eyes, full of hatred and of the past. Matt reared on his hind quarters along with his Captain, as they boxed fearfully close to eachother's heads. Yuri pulled a fast one on him, ducking his head and kicking him right in the next. Blood seeped from his mouth were Yuri's brow tines had stabbed him.
Yuri was in a perfect condition, but his right front leg was growing red with the small trickle of blood that poured out of a slim wound in many different directions. "Now, go." Yuri bellowed as he towered over Matt. The young Outrider had never seen his Captain so angry, even though he had done things like this to Tala, the Lord and the Captain himself many a time before.
"I said go!" Matt didn't have time to answer with a smart remark for Yuri's antlers were gaining space dangerously close to his eyes. There were rumors that Tala had taught Yuri a punishment of gouging, but of course, he had heard that from the hinds in the other Herds.
Once Matt had left for real this time, Yuri couldn't help spotting the hind grazing. He hated drawing attention to himself, but being a Captain it tended to happen a lot. Tala had told him that all, including the fiesty hinds, would respect him. Then, why, did Yuri not desire respect from a hind such as this? It was not because of her different bloodlines and odd appearances, but it was just the fact of what she was. Yes, of what she was.

The hind, knowing she was being watched, raised her head from the grass. A sharp glare played in her eyes. She knew exactly what would be going on in his mind, though she didn't care. She didn't like Outrider Captains, they bugged her for some reason.
She also didn't care that she was glaring at him, who cared what he did. She knew he was already angry, but she didn't care as a normal hind would. As a normal hind would be scared to even dare try something like that, Chiyo wasn't like them though. She didn't want to be scared of stags, for they were nothing to fear. Or atleast, so she thought.

Yuri's glaring expression faded into an elegantly broad smile. She did not want to give him the respect that some so greatly desired, besides, he did not even deserve respect from a hind of her status. He just realized that he had been glaring at Prince's Hind, and quickly the respectful tables had turned. It was not she who should be giving respect, but he.
"Chiyo, I appologize for interrupting your grazing. Matt was at it again, I am deeply embarrassed to interrupt you." He bellowed from the other side of the feild, dipping his head elegantly.

"Save it." She replied flatly, though her expression eased a little. "I refuse to accept respect from a rank." She added truthfully, she hated people looking at rank instead of the being. "So treat me how you will, for I don't care." She mumbled, just loud enough to be heard.
With that, the hind walked forward, forgeting the idea of grazing. Now she was thirsty, so her feet had directed her to the small stream, which was closer to Yuri, but she didn't care. Lowering her strangely antlered head, she gulped up a little water before raising it again.

Yuri couldn't help but notice the small look on her face that had changed. But it didn't matter, he didn't like the Lead Hind anyway. He only tolerated it and said nothing because of Tala, who had sworn to tell Prince about everything that Yuri didn't want him to know.
Tala. He and Yuri had been wonderful friends a long time ago, back in Russia. Tala had been much kinder then, and always talked about how wonderful Starbuck and Herne were that day in the story. He and Tala would make up their own stories with their own characters, Quidel and Nahle. Quidel and Nahle were close friends, almost like brothers, just as Tala and Yuri had been. They fought against Herne's wrath and tricked him into gaining things that the Herla could only dream of possessing, such as the power Man possessed. Yuri had never really thought about it, but it was Nahle, Tala's creation, that was the one who had desired the power of Man.
Thinking of his fawnhood with the Lord's Assistant made him think of Anya, which almost brought tears to his eyes. He kept in a mournful bellow, and looked up to the sky.
'Is she there, Herne? Is she with you, or did you send her to the wolves of eternal death? She was good, Herne, why do you destroy your servant like this?'
He brought his elegant head into the tall grass and allowed the salty tears to fall from his eyes and off his long muzzle. Sometimes the tears felt good, but remembering things like he just did made them painful, and reach right into his very soul.

Despite what she didn't like about the Captain, she felt bad for him. She obviously knew he was pained, why, she didn't know. But still, she felt bad for him. "I'm sorry." Chiyo said softly, looking at the Outrider before turning around. She knew he didn't want her sympathy, so she figured it was a wasted effort.
Her dark hooves carried her around the small bends in the stream, she looked down at the water. 'I wish I could be water..' She thought. 'The water is so free, not a care in the world. It is not teased for it's saltiness, or it's freshness. It flows however it wished, and when time comes, falls from the sky as tears fall from the eyes of Lera. Oh how I wish I could be the water...' Her thoughts remained as she looked longingly into the water, however, her reflection appeared in which she looked away in utter disgust.

(Good idea!)
"No need to appologize....I'm fine." He had shaken his head before brining it up out of the grass. But no matter what he did, the light stain of tears fell from his eyes to his nose. Since he was quite the distance away, they weren't very noticable.
'Herne, why did you have to bring Matt into the world? Why did you have to make me come over here?'
He was making a fool of himself, sobbing about a desceased Herla, there was nothing he could do about her death, so why was he still in pain?

"If you say so then. But still, pain is not something that you can just overlook." Chiyo had turned her head back to Yuri, facing him now. The waters she had longed to be had just rejected her, reminding her of what she was. That was just about the only part about the water she hated, the fact that it could bring up the past just by looking at it.
The hind could smell the saltiness of the tears, though pretended not to notice, as not to emberass him or make himself feel more foolish. The hind instead stared down at the ground, looking to nothing in peticular(sp I think I dunno).

Yuri had turned away, not wanting to hold the gaze of another. He had been taught to never look into the eyes of another, whether they be Varg or Herla, Lera or Man. It was something Tala had taught him, for looking into anothers' eyes was how Tala had ended up appearing as he was to that very day.
"I see you still think about her, don't you Yuri?" A voice came to his ears, slithering like the movements of a serpant. Yuri knew immediantly it was Tala, but he could see him nowhere. Perhaps he was behind him, but he didn't dare look there. It was dark behind him, there was nothing there but shrubs and dry grasses. The darkness behind him sent chills down his spine, and he did not want to answer. His form had gone rigid, and an air of fear was beginning to envelop him and the darkness beyond.
