(BTW, the title means 'In Vane Beauty.')
Darkened paws padded lightly across the forest's undergrowth. The paws carried a slender beast, one of a reddish hue. The creature had stout ears, a smooth face, and a fluffy plume of a tail, tipped with black. Of course, the creature's amber eyes had darted out from behind a black face, making them seem eerie in the quiet forest.
With the flick of a tail the creature pounced on a small mouse, bringing it to it's death. The vixen lowered her head, biting into the mouse's side and devouring her snack in a few crunchy bites. All that remained were a few bones, which the vixen took in her mouth and chewed on.
After her snack, the vixen sat down on her haunches, licking her blood-flecked paws clean. She hated getting dirty, it bugged her. After her paws were clean, amber hued eyes observed the forest around her.
It was morning, so the birds had justly woken, singing their songs to welcome the day. Keikoku, the vixen, ignored that however. To her, her world was silent, despite the birds, her ears were listening for something else, something else to eat. The vixen hadn't eaten anything for what seemed like an eternity, not counting that rodent. That eternity was more like four days. She was used to this though, being a loner had prepared her for all of this, the tougher times to hunt. Winter had let up, so creatures had returned to their normal springly activities, which meant now the feed would be plentiful.
However, there wasn't much here to eat. Occasionally she'd find a rat, maybe a stray bird that couldn't fly and had fallen from it's nest. But nothing satisfying. Her stomach continued to scold her as she stood back up, continuing her walk through the trees and keeping a constant eye out for movement.

ooc:Hmm...I was going to make either a bear, or create my own RP with Rikka, or maybe even add a few little things to Rio Blanco Valley, since people obviously like the fact that I let fox characters come in, but, I suppose I'll hae to do that later and just join this RP!!!
ic:Rikka had previously captured a fish down in the river that ran through her so-called Clan. Rikka was the only Vixen, or fox for that matter, that held a position in it, and she didn't care if it stayed that way. She had lived most of her life like this, so why would she care if any more foxes joined up with her?
Rikka, fish clamped tightly in her maw, slowly began to walk towards the nearest grove of trees she could find to finally feast upon her prize in peace. She called it a 'prize' because not all of the fish had come back yet, since the waters still felt like they were shocked in an eternal Winter to the lead Vixen called Rikka.
After only moments of a swift, loping gait at a continuous steady pace did she find just the grove she was looking for. Surrounded by trees, the only entrance through a thin hole in a hollowed out log. In the center was a convieniently placed stump, right over a large puddle of water, probably left over from the Winter snows, since it was so dark in here the warm spring weather hadn't thawed it all out yet. The stump's surface was icy, but it made Rikka feel almost pleasant.

Cocoa, as Keikoku preferred to be called, saw a small opening in the trees ahead of her. Deciding it would be a nice change of scenery, she walked toward it. This small opening however turned out to be the edge of the forest, and once Cocoa saw this, she ran full fledged toward it.
The only thing that stopped her was the sight of the other vixen, which, when her paws suddenly stopped stock-still after running, her momentum carried her, flying in a few rolls. When she stopped, she was at the edge of a tree, looking up at it's branches, her hind paws dwindling over her face.
Her rolled up position against the tree was pretty funny looking, she decided, so she tried to move from it. However, there was a large rock at her side, so she couldn't push herself over onto her other side, preventing her escape from this emberassing situation.
The vixen sighed and pushed against the tree with her tail, trying to pry herself from the situation. When that didn't work, she just sighed and looked around, hoping the other vixen hadn't heard the 'crack, crack cra-THUD' that just rang though the forest.

ooc:Sorry I haven't replied for a while, Raven!
ic:Rikka paid no attention to the vixen that had just rushed...well, rolled into the clearing. She did, however, lift up the fish by the tail with a hilarious expression on her face. She was staring at Cocoa like she was some new form of Lera, or maybe that she had something abnormal on her that was moving, such as a huge horsefly.
Rikka's attention quickly moved towards the large cracking sound that was erupting through the forest. She had no idea what it was, but decided to wait to see if it came again. It was probably just a bear from the Rio Blanco Caves crashing through the forest of campers trying to find a road in the middle of the forest on their way down to Rio Blanco.
Still, curiosity gripped Rikka's chest. She just wanted to know so badly, she completely ignored her reputation.
"What are you doing?"

Cocoa's tail loomed infront of her face, blocking it from view. "I was trying to escape....But now I'm halfway up a tree." The vixen sighed, batting her bushy tail with a paw. "Arrg! Get out of my face!" She yelled at her tail, yes, her tail. "Well this is hopeless." She muttered, struggling to get out of her situation, which proved impossible.
"Just great..." She continued muttering, pressing her back paws against the tree, attempting to push herself forward, out of the tree's evil clutch. Eventually she gave up, figuring it was hopeless.

Rikka sighed, it was too hilarious to bare any longer, and she couldn't risk herself laughing. The last time she had laughed it felt like she had breathed her last breath. She hadn't ever laughed as a kit, so it was completely new and dangerous to laugh for her.
"Come on, I'll get you out." Rikka rolled her eyes, trotting to the tree that Cocoa was laying by. Rikka lifted her tail, placing it harshly on the Vixen's tail, holding it up. She didn't want to show off her abnormalities, so she simply started to dig.
Once a sufficient hole was dug in the ground, she let go of Cocoa's tail. "There. Now you can slide into the hole, and out."

"Eh, thanks." She said, sliding back out of her position. Standing up, the vixen shook the dirt from her fur and looked to Rikka. "Why'd you help? You could've just let me stay there. Though I'm thankful that you did help me." She said, sort of in a monotone.
"Do you live around here?" Cocoa suddenly said, perking up a little. "I've lived in this forest most of my life. It's kinda fun being alone, but I hate it sometimes too." She rambled, blabbering about the least-interresting subjects in the world.

Rikka was bored as she rambled, she hardly paid attention to Cocoa's little story about her living around this area for a long time.
"Yeah, yeah, that's great. I helped because you were pathetic looking, and I didn't just save you from starvation and deathly cramps, I saved you from humiliation from other Lera." Rikka knew humiliation well. She had gone through it much as a kit.

"Pathetic eh!?" Cocoa said, trying not to become angry. Though it swelled inside of her, threatening to break down her defences from the inside out. However, Keikoku was too clever for this. "Oh, I see..." Her tone was completely different, softer and less angry.
"Well, I'm sure you have better things to be doing than talking to me. You probably should bet back to them too."

"Hmm! Your kidding, right? You almost sound angry, is that what this message is that you're trying to get across?" Rikka laughed again, but it wasn't joyful or melodious, no, it was icy cold, like a mid Winter's chilling fingers reaching inside of the very marrow of one's bones. "On the contrary, I really don't have anything better to do. I am leader of the the Clan of the White River, but am the only fox in it. I'm almost glad it's that way, though."

"Ahh!" Cocoa cried, jumping back. "I'm sorry!" She replied, bowing her head, "I had no clue! Honest!" By now she was talking fast, obviously nervous. Much like wolves, fox like to show respect to their superiors(sp I think), or else it could mean they're neck. Although there are some fox who don't respect anything, though that was not Keikoku, oh no.

Rikka almost wanted to smile and start laughing, but she kept herself back. "No need for appologies, I wouldn't have rung your neck, anyway. I do that to anyone unless...." Her words faded out into nothing. "Now, who are you?"

"My name is Keikoku, or Cocoa for short." She said, peeking back up at the vixen. "And you ring everyone's neck unless...?" She continued, "If you don't want to answer it, I can't make you." She added perkilly(I doubt that is even a word). "And I didn't catch your name, though you don't have to tell me that either if you don't want to."

"It is of no importance. My name is Rikka..Hmm! Cocoa, the name suits you...cute." More like nieve... Rikka rolled her eyes, and looked back towards the stump with the fish on it.
Picking it up, she almost smiled. "Want some?" Then turned back to the tree. "What was that sound, do you know?"

"Oh yeah...about that sound...It was nothing. And no, I don't really want any. It's your fish, you have it." She said, grinning a little. "I really don't like the name Cocoa myself, it sounds childish, though my parents called me that, so it stuck..."
